How does booking an event work?
The price is set by the amount of time you desire for your event.
Bookings can be made on an hourly basis(with a 4 hour minimum) or for a whole day. Clients interested in 2 or 3 day rentals should call to inquire about availability.
How does payment work?
A 50% deposit is due to hold the date of your event, the remainder is due 30 days before your event. Payments are taken by cash or check only.
What is your refund policy?
If a cancellation is needed please be advised there will be a 50% cancellation fee of the initial booking deposit. It is required to give 90 days notice of the cancellation or render the full booking deposit.
How can I schedule a visit?
How's parking?
We have a separate area for parking that is a short walk to the barn. There is no extra charge for parking. If guests have trouble walking they can be dropped off near the venue . We will be happy to show you the allotted parking areas during your visit.
How many guests can Behind the Maple accommodate?
The accommodation varies depending on the the kind of event and how you plan to configure everything. Adding additional outdoor seating or renting a tent from a local provider can easily help you accommodate an event of a much larger capacity. Take a look at our ground plan to get an idea of the size and scale of our space.
Can I use the external area of the barn?
Yes, the external area can be used upon request. In front of the barn, between the Maple and the face of the barn is a level area perfect for a tent for additional seating or congregating. We also offer an area close by the lake for ceremonies. Click here to see to the ground plan page which includes a diagram of the level area in front of the barn.

Where can out of town guests stay?
The site is located close to Leonardtown and Solomon Island, Maryland. There are many places to accommodate your guests nearby such as in California MD at the Country Inn and Suites, in Solomons like Hilton, Holiday Inn, and Home2Suites by Hilton.
Where do we purchase event insurance?
All guests are required to purchase event insurance for the day of their event and provide proof of insurance 30 days prior. There are many online options to choose from, below are some options that can get you started on your insurance search. ​
Bathroom Services
Please note our barn is not equipped with bathrooms at this time. Guests must rent their own portable bathrooms for your occasion. Upon request, we can book the portable bathrooms as an addon to your experience.
